The 99 Club is offering a unique opportunity for talented female comedians to be part of a one-off comedy showcase and receive a contribution towards funding their 2017 Edinburgh Fringe show.
Successful shortlisted applicants will be given the opportunity to perform their Edinburgh show for an audience and judging panel of some of the most successful and influential female comedians on the comedy circuit. The winner will also receive a bursary of £1000 to be put towards their Edinburgh Fringe show expenses.
The 99 Club is committed to nurturing new talent and supporting gender equality within the comedy industry. Regular 99 Club comedians include Holly Walsh, Kerry Godliman, Jo Caulfield, Tiffany Stevenson, Luisa Omelian, Felicity Ward, Zoe Lyons, Ellie Taylor and Sara Pascoe to name but a few. Our resident MC’s have been Shappi Khorsandi, Suzi Ruffell, and we take pride in spring boarding careers of emerging comedians. This year we were official partners of the UN Women’s HeforShe gender equality campaign, and ran a comedy show to raise both funds and awareness in conjunction with their 2017 Arts Week.
We are excited to open up this bursary to all female comedians looking to take either their first or second stand-up show (48 minutes or longer) to Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2017. The finalist showcase will take place in one of our West End venues on the 23rd July 2017.
To apply, please complete the form below, providing us with a high quality clip of your previous stand-up experience and tell us about yourself in 300 words or less. We welcome all applications which meet the criteria, and applicants will be informed if they have been shortlisted for the comedy showcase in the beginning of July 2017.
Please note that due to high volume of applications we will not be able to provide individual feedback.
Application deadline: 30th June 2017
